Abdullah JAC withdraws strike call

Following an understanding reached during a meeting with chief minister N Biren Singh on Thursday, the JAC against the brutal killing of Md Abdullah has withdrawn its 48 hours general strike proposed to be called from 5 am Friday.
Informing about the development to media persons after emerging out of CM bungalow, JAC convener Md Ayub Kori said that during the meeting attended by representative of the JAC and CSO leaders, the government agreed to translate into action some demands of the JAC.
Accordingly, the proposed general strike has been withdrawn and Md Abdullah's corpse will be claimed for performing his last rites.
Regarding the points agreed during the meeting, Ayub Kori said that the CM assured of conducting investigation into Md Abdullah's killing in a fair manner and submission of charge sheet of the case within three months.
It was also agreed during the meeting that all those arrested in connection with the killing will not be kept at Lilong PS and shifted to another police station within Thoubal district and arrest of other remaining culprits will be effected at the earliest.
After threadbare discussion on loopholes with regard to non-conduct of rescue operation by Lilong PS, the meeting agreed to handover investigation into this case to DSP Thoubal, Ayub Kori said, adding that the meeting also agreed that government will provide job to one member of late Md Abdullah's family.
Ayub Kori also said that CM Biren has instructed DSP Thoubal to take up immediate steps to nab other co - accused and assured of delivering justice at the earliest.
The meeting was also attended by BJP Minority Morcha Manipur Pradesh president Mk Asker Ali.
Meanwhile, a sit-in-protest against the brutal killing of Korimayum Abdullah was held at Moijing Meena Keithel in Thoubal district on Thursday.
The protest jointly organised by Ittihadul Ulama and Jamiatul Ulama, Thoubal Moijing started with a prayer (Duwa) to the Almighty so that Abdullah's soul rest in peace.
The protestors also unanimously resolved to extend support and cooperate in the investigation into the killing.
Similar mass protest and torch rally were also organised by Jamiatul Ulama, Keibul and five clubs of the area namely UYDA, KWSDO, KYDC, KWA and KMDA at Keibung on Wednesday.
