Imphal, December 23 2022:
Keeping in view of the new surge of Covid-19 cases in different countries driven by a new and highly infectious variant, chief minister N Biren has said that the state government would soon issue regulations as part of precautionary measures to prevent another wave of the pandemic.
Responding to media persons on the sidelines of an event held at the CM's secretariat here on Friday, Biren said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had already chaired a high level meeting on Covid-19 and reviewed the situation.
Though the world is witnessing a new wave of Covid-19, the country is not witnessing any surge so far, except for some occasional cases.
Though the state is not reporting any fresh Covid cases, there is still need to stay cautious in order to prevent or control any eventuality.
The health minister had chaired a meeting with health commissioner and other officials in this regard.
A regulation will be issued within a couple of days, he said.
On the other hand, the CM said that the government's plan for introducing air ambulance would take some time.
He said that the idea was proposed during the time of Governor Najma Heptulla with the plan to introduce the service under UDAN scheme for the whole northeast.
However, the government is exploring possibilities of equipping one of the two helicopters providing service between Imphal and Tamenglong with emergency medical kits for utilisation in times of medical emergency, he confided.
