Senapati, June 23 2022:
Chakha and Kangjang villages under Senapati district on Thursday clarified that the villagers sought the attention of the authority concerned to clear landslide debris including boulders, mud, fallen trees and rocks that have blocked vehicular movement across the lone inter village road.
This statement came after some fabricated news items reporting about poor quality of black topping along the IVR connecting Kangjang and Chakha villages were found published in some state local dailies on June 20, 2022.Chakha village chairman and Kangjang village secretary in their press statement mentioned that multiple landslides along the inter village road connecting Chakha and Kangjang villages cut off the two interior villages from the rest of the state.
The blockade of the road was caused by the incessant rains over the past many days, triggering landslides.
The two villages are located around 57 kilometres away from the Imphal- Di-mapur highway.
The village chairman lamented that authorities concerned have not taken any appropriate action despite repeated complaints to clear the debris and restore connectivity.
However, Chakha village chairman PT Khomuibou and Kanjang village secretary Pidibou clarified that the two villages have no dissatisfaction with the quality of the black topping project which was completed recently.
In this connection, a joint meeting was held five days back during which chairmen, secretaries, and elders of the two villages and the contractors concerned discussed the matter and agreed mutually to co-operate with each other.
According to factual report, many finished portions of the blacktopping were reportedly damaged due to landslides that occurred at more than 30 different places between the two villages.
Moreover, some portions are found to have been washed away by overflowing water due to incessant rain in the past few days.
The work agency concerned had also reportedly submitted factual visuals to the department concerned.
In this connection, the department concerned had reportedly visited the spots recently and had taken record of the damages caused by nature's fury.
