Imphal, September 16 2023: All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) along with Women's Provision Committee, Sagolmang organised a free eye camp at Sagolmang community hall on Saturday.

In a release, AMUCO informed that Yaima Eye Hospital, Khagempali Pankha Huidrom Leikai helped the eye camp by utilising their medical team.

During the camp, 127 people staying in relief camps availed the benefit while ten of them underwent cataract operation at Yaima Hospital and 58 persons were provided spectacles.

It said that AMUCO has conducted 11 medical camps till now, apart from taking care of medical needs of 2,500 people and providing spectacles to 1237 people so far.

The Free Eye Camp at Sagolmang was a part of the series of medical camps being organised by AMUCO with Meira Paibis and other civil bodies at relief camps across the state.

The medical camps are being organised in coordination with MSRAM, CRU, CMO Imphal East, CMO Imphal West, Eastern Pharma, Chingmeirong and MCDA, who contributed medicines and medical staff.

AMUCO has so far conducted 11 Free Eye Camps at different relief camps and extended the benefit to 2,500 inmates.

A total of 1,237 spectacles have also been provided while 31 Cataract operations conducted.

Meanwhile, Anti-Social Elements Prevention Youth's Development Organisation (ASEPYDO) and Primary Health Centre, Lilong jointly organised free medical camp at the organisation's office located at Lilong Chingakham Makha.

The medical camp was attended by Thoubal Zilla Parishad adhyaksha Hasina Begum, Turel Ahanbi Atoukhong GP pradhan Md Idrish Ali, ASEPYDO president Md Musa Khan, Turel Ahanbi Atoukhong GP administrative committee chairman Yunush Khan and MTDC executive engineer Phundrimayum Salaoddin as presidium members.

Around 400 people attended the camp.

Under the international initiative of "Celebrate Community ", Rotary Club of Imphal and Lions Club of Imphal jointly organised free health camp and distributed essential items for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) staying in relief camp set up at Phayeng High School.

A release issued by Lions Club of Imphal informed that the health camp was supported by a medical team from RIMS, Lamphelpat comprising doctors from departments such as dermatology, paediatrics, medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, opthalmology and clinical psychology.

The two clubs also handed over essential items to the relief camp.

Lions Club of Imphal president L Swamikanta said that Celebrate Community is a joint initiative of four international service clubs which is done from September 11-17 annually.

As Manipur is having only Lions and Rotary Clubs, the two clubs joined hands for the service activity.

The free medical camp was flagged off from RIMS hospital OPD campus by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare NE Division joint secretary Vandana Jain along with deputy secretary Pulkesh Kumar, RIMS director professor G Sunil Kumar Sharma and medical superintendent professor N Sanjib Singh.

Speaking on the side-lines of the camp, Non-Teaching Welfare Association (NTEWA) president Dr W Ranbir Singh informed that RIMS will be organising more free medical camps in future to provide health assistance to internally displaced people living in relief centres in different parts of Manipur.

He also appreciated Lions Club of Imphal and Rotary Club of Imphal for assisting the free medical camp.

Further, foods and other essential items including sanitary pads were distributed to inmates staying in the relief camps.

A team of specialist doctors from departments of medicine, ENT, ophthalmology, obstetrics and gynaecology, dermatology, clinical psychology, orthopaedic and paediatrics gave treatments and provide health counselling to around 84 people during the free medical camp.
