Moreh, September 05 2022:
With confirmation of two more cases on Monday, the number of dengue cases in the Indo-Myanmar border town Moreh has risen to 146.In view of the increasing dengue cases, many have started questioning the effectiveness of using 'King Fox' in fogging to control the viral disease.
The two latest cases detected include a 13-year old boy from Moreh Gate no 2 and a 4-year old pre-school child from Moreh Mission Veng.
Blood sample of the four-year old was tested on September 2 and confirmed on Monday.
On September 3, three people including a 22-year old woman from Guite Veng, a 44-year old man from Ward No 7 and a 29-year-old woman from near Moreh College were also found infected by Dengue.
The Special Malaria unit of Sub Divisional Hospital, Moreh under the aegis of District Malaria Department is continuing fogging using 'King Fox' and taking up other surveillance activities, yet the number of dengue cases could not be contained.
It may be recalled that when Moreh faced a similar dengue outbreak in 2007 that claimed some lives, the viral disease was effectively put under control using 'Malathion' in fogging.
Many opined that the viral disease could be contained if 'Malathion' or any other chemical compositions are used in the fogging exercise.
It is fortunate that the sincerity and hard work of doctors and nurses of Sub-divisional hospital, Moreh have so far prevented recurrence of the tragic 2007 dengue endemic in Moreh.
