Indefinite Chakka Bandh called along NH102B

National Highway 102B Affected Chiefs' Association, Churachandpur has announced imposition of indefinite 'Chakka Bandh' along NH 102B in pursuance of its demand for payment of compensation to the project affected villagers.
The bandh will commence on September 6 from 5 am.
"Since there is no positive response from the authorities concerned regarding payment of compensation to the affected families of NH 102B within the stipulated time.
National Highway 102B Affected Chiefs' Association hereby decided to call Chakka bandh in all the worksites of NHIDCL along NH 102B (Zero Point to Singngat), Churachandpur from the 6th September, 2021 from 05:00 AM till an amicable solution is reached between the two parties," the association said in a press release on Saturday.
According to the release, the organisation had given September 5, 2021 as deadline in a memorandum submitted on August 23 to the executive director, NHIDCL, Manipur for full payment of the compensation in respect of additional structure, forestry, horticulture, water supply and fishery ponds affected by NH 102B (Zero point to Singngat) expansion.
The chiefs' body also prayed for payment of compensation to those affected people as per the agreement reached on May 15, 2021 in the presence of TA & Hills minister Vungzagin Valte, who is also in-charge of Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts.
It then appealed to the public and civil organisations to cooperate and extend full support to its bandh, adding that the organisation cannot be held responsible for any untoward incident for "failing to heed our appeal" .
