Workshop on neo-Hindi writers commences

An eight days workshop on Neo-Hindi Writers, Non-Hindi Speaking was inaugurated today in the Lecture Hall of the Hindi Department, Manipur University.
The workshop is jointly organised by Central Hindi Directorate, New Delhi and Department of Hindi, MU.
Professor Adya Prasad Pandey, Vice- Chancellor, MU; Professor M Mani Meitei, Dean, School of Humanities; Dr Gandhari Pangati, Assistant Director, Central Hindi Directorate; Dr Lenchenba Meitei, writer, Sahitya Academi Awardee and Associate Professor of DM College and Professor H Subhadani Devi, Hindi Department, MU attended the inaugural function as presidium members.
Addressing the gathering, Professor Pandey stated that the popularity and number of Hindi speaking people is increasing day by day and the language is not only famous in.India but in other countries like Mauritius and China.
He asserted that each and every language has its own value and dignity and we need to know each other through language and culture.
Hindi is the friendship language and it binds all Indians in one rope irrespective of caste, creed, colour and race, he added.
Professor Mani praised the Hindi Department, MU for organising workshops and seminars in the Department throughout the year.
Dr Kanchan Sharma, Head, Department of Hindi and coordinator of the workshop expressed that literature should play a pivotal role in the society.
It is also very important that the reality of the society should be expressed through literature, Dr Kanchan added.
