Imphal, November 24 2011:
Giving three days' deadline to the PIC for coming out with clarification over alleged false report on financial investment in meeting the demand for implementation of 6th Central Revised Pay in toto, Council of Teachers' Association (COTA) has announced its decision of intensifying the ongoing agitation if the state government continues to remain indifferent to the demand.
Addressing a press conference at TG Higher Secondary School today, Convenor of COTA P Koireng alleged that when the actual financial investment that would be required for meeting the demand for implementation of 6th Central Revised Pay in toto to the teachers is around Rs 3 crores monthly, the PIC has submitted false report to the state Cabinet quoting the required amount as Rs 27 crores.
Questioning why the PIC has given such false report to the state Cabinet, Koireng demanded the PIC to come out with a clarification within three days.
Why is the government remaining indifferent to the demand of the agitating teachers when Chief Secretary DS Poonia himself had issued an order on January 16 last to the effect of implementing 6th Central Revised Pay in toto to the teachers?, Koireng asked, and added that this is nothing but discriminatory and negligence attitude of the government towards the teachers.
Co-Convenor of COTA Ch Shantakumar, who was also present during the press conference, pointed out that in other states of the country, one revised pay order can satisfy all the teachers but in Manipur it is not so even after issuing a multitude of ROPs.
He also announced the decision of COTA to launch sit-in-protest and indefinite cease work strike in all the schools from tomorrow in protest against the alleged attempt of the government to suppress the agitation of the teachers.
