ILP counters yet to function

The two ILP counters opened at Jiribam railway station are yet to be made functional due to certain inconveniences, informed officer in-Charge of Jiribam police station inspector Heikrujam Devenkishore.
Devenkishore told media persons at his office chamber of Tuesday that the ILP pass for outsiders coming to Manipur are currently being issued at the ILP counter set up near Jiri bridge in coordination with station master of Jiribam railway station to process entry of train passengers though the two ILP counters at Jiribam railway station are yet to be made functional.
Train passengers needing ILP pass are brought up to the Jiri bridge counter by Jiribam police and issued ILP passes there, he added.
Mention may be made here that Jiribam police has been taking steps to prevent entry of outsiders without possessing ILP pass into the state by opening a counter at Jiribam bridge that connects with Assam.
The district police has also been deploying patrol party along Jiri river banks to prevent entry of outsiders by crossing Jiri river.
