Assam Rifles organises Ex-Servicemen rally

Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen Rally was conducted by 9 Sector Assam Rifles at Mantripukhri under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) on 17 September 2016.A Rally for Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen at such a grand scale was organised for only the second time in the state of Manipur.
The event was presided over by Lt Gen HJS Sachdev, PVSM, AVSM, SM, ADC, Director General Assam Rifles in the presence of Maj Gen VS Sreenivas, VSM**, Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) and Brig J S Bainsla, Commander 9 Sector Assam Rifles.
The rally saw mass participation of Ex- Servicemen including Veer Naris, Widows and children from Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal and Tamenglong districts of Manipur.
Lt Gen HJS Sachdev, PVSM, AVSM, SM, ADC, DGAR addressed the rally and said that the Assam Rifles has proved itself well in peace and war and has been responsible for ushering in normalcy in many parts of the North East.
Manipur too, has been subjected to violent insurgency for decades, costing thousands of lives and adversely impacting peace and development.
Assam Rifles has contributed in a large measure in reducing the violence levels and enabling the civil administration to function.
He said that Assam Rifles also stood by the people in times of Natural disasters.
The DGAR said that the welfare of Veer Naris and Widows is a top priority area for Assam Rifles.
He said that this rally was organised with an aim of reaching out to the Assam Rifles Ex- Servicemen fraternity, renewing bonds between serving and retired personnel, felicitating Veer Naris, Widows and addressing grievances pertaining to pensions and other benefits.
The DGAR said that the State Government will also continue to provide different schemes for Assam Rifles Veer Naris and Widows.
A Pamphlet was distributed to all Ex-Servicemen, Veer Naris and Widows which covers various schemes and benefits available to Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen and their dependents.
The DGAR then felicitated Veer Naris and Widows giving them small tokens of appreciation.
An Open House and Pension Adalat was held to address certain issues of common interest to all Ex- Servicemen.
Veer Naris, Widows and Ex-Servicemen were then guided to various stalls and other facilities established at the venue for their benefit.
These included stalls for addressing individual person grievances, Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen Association (ARESA), Medical check-up, treatment and medication.
There were stalls for opening Bank accounts and AadharCards also.
The State Government's Horticulture, Agriculture, Small Scale Industries, Skill Development and Fisheries Departments also established their stalls.
There were Military and Ethnic stalls showcasing the history, tradition and culture of Assam Rifles.
Mrs VandanaSachdev, President Assam Rifles Wives Welfare Association (ARWWA), and other ladies of ARWWA also attended the occasion and interacted with the Veer Naris, Widows and dependents of ARESM.
As a part of the Ex-Servicemen rally held at Mantripukhri, a medical camp was also organised wherein Gynaecologist, Eye Specialist, Cardiologist from various Civil/ Govt Hospitals of Imphal (Manipur) participated and Dental Care Centre was established by IGAR (South) .
