Imphal, October 10 2021:
Manipur People's Democratic Front (MPDF) secretary Sapam Samungou has categorically said that just giving assurances and making promises alone cannot bring about the aspired model villages and model constituencies.
Addressing a press meet in this regard at Manipur Press Club here on Sunday, Samungou said that making all the 2582 villages of the state into model villages can bring development not only in Manipur but also in India.
However, in real sense there is not a single model village and no model assembly constituency in the state, he claimed and explained that a model village or constituency needs better road connectivity, basic and modern facilities like safe drinking water, good schools, healthcare services, and provision of government services in a proper way.
MLAs and ministers often make promises of making model villages or constituencies but making such statements is not enough.
At the same time, it is also an easy task to bring about model villages and constituencies, and it can be achieved when the public take a firm stand to elect the right candidates.
They need-to understand that they cannot place their hopes on the so-called social workers with election motive, he added.
