CCpur, January 09 2022:
All the intending candidates in the six assembly constituencies under Churachandpur district for the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election have intensified their election campaign since the past few weeks.
Most of the intending candidates are trying to woo voters through the conventional way of delivering catchy speeches at public meetings where they highlighted their agendas, plans and ideologies for bringing about change and development.
Almost all the intending candidates in the six assembly constituencies namely Churachandpur, Saikot, Thanlon, Henglep, Tipaimukh and Singhat are using the same conventional style to woo voters.
However, one intending candidate in Churachandpur AC namely James Khuma Haujel, an evangelist who returned from China recently, is campaigning in a slightly distinct way as he casually interacts with his supporters and organises events in a manner similar to musical concert and merriment.
He mixes up with his people in such a way that none feels sidelined and all seem to be taken care of.
He also uses social media platforms effectively.
Khuma Haujel told this correspondent that he is against any form of dirty politics and rung out the message that politics is not about money and corruption only.
Including James Khuma Haujel, Churachandpur assembly segment is likely to have six contestants.
They are sitting MLA V Hangkhanlian, former DGP LM Khaute, ex-MDC H Mangchinchup, former Lamka Post daily editor T Thangzalian and retired MR officer LC Thang.
Meanwhile, possible contenders from Saikot AC are sitting MLA TN Haokip, Dr George T Haokip, ex-MDC and present BJP Churachandpur Mandal president "Khaipao Haokip and Paulienlal.
As per information available till date, Singhat AC is likely to have four contestants and they are sitting MLA GS Haupu, JD (U) Manipur president T Hangkhanpau, UZO president Chinlunthang and former BJP leader Khaibiaklian.
On the other hand, Thanlon AC is likely to have a triangular fight among sitting MLA and tribal affairs minister Vungzagin Valte, ex-MDC and former Churachandpur ADC chairman Langkhanpau and Khanthang Tonsing, the son of former senior Congress leader late Phungzathang Tonsing.
As per information available so far, Tipaimukh AC is also likely to have a triangular contest among sitting MLA Dr Chaltonlien Amo, a senior Congress leader who on Sunday defected to BJP, Thangthatling and Ngursanglur, the son of late Ngurdinglian.
Sources said that all of them are vying for BJP ticket but Dr Chaltonlien'Amo's joining to BJP apparently messed up plans for the two candidates.
Henglep will again witness four strong contenders and they are Nehminthang alias Thangboi Haokip, Letzamang Haokip, former MLA of the areas who resigned from his MLA post Thangzalam alias TT Haokip and T Manga Vaiphei, a senior Congress MLA who had been elected as MLA for four consecutive terms.
