KSA continues drive against tobacco products

Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) has claimed that the rise in consumption ofbeetle leaves and tobacco products by students has led to degrading moral values/discipline and health conditions and as such the association has started seizing and banning such products.
Speaking to media persons-^ KSA office at Sega Road Konjeng H azari Leikai today, the association's vice president Sukham Bi dyananda narrated that KSA launched a drive at Ngari Gali at Thangal Keithel today.
However, while the KSA volunteers were try ing to h and over the 1 arge number of seized betel leaves to the Food Safety Wing, the items were picked up by ateamofCityPS, he added.
Heclaimedthatasperanotification issuedby the then CommissionerofFood Safety and the Principal Secretary ofHealth and Family Welfare on F ebruary26,2013, sale and transport of tobacco products were banned.
Moreover, as per the Cigarettes and Other TObacco Products (Prohibition of Adver-tisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act 2003, sale of tobacco products to an individual under the age of 18 as well as the sale oftobacco products within 100 yards of any educational institutions are banned.
