The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has rescheduled the next round of 'tripartite talk' on district creation on January 28.According to a meeting notice issued by the MHA to United Naga Council (UNC), the former has decided to reschedule the talk date following the "request" from the State Government.
However, the venue of the talk remains the same.
Earlier, the next round of tripartite talk was fixed on January 25 .
This tripartite talk on January 28 will be the first round of talk on the issue with a new team of UNC headed by S Kho John.
It may be recalled that the last round of talk was held on September 1, 2018 in Senapati district headquarters and the participating parties had decided to hold the next round of talk in the first week of December, 2018 .
However, there is no development in this regard till date.
The UNC, on December 11, had expressed its concern as the Government remained silent on the next round of tripartite talk over the district creation issue.
A letter was submitted to Satyendra Garg, Joint Secretary (NE), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) by the UNC reminding about the next round of talk slated to be held in the first week of December, 2018 .
Following the creating of seven new districts by the previous State Government on December 8, 2016, the UNC had imposed 139 days of economic blockade along the National highways passing through Manipur.
After the lifting of the blockade, the first round of talk was held on March 19, 2017 followed by several rounds of talk.
