Imphal, May 18 2021:
As an initiative towards ensuring early detection of Covid-19 so as to break the chain of transmission of Covid-19 second wave, former MLA of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC RK Anand along with Ereima Seba Association arranged for conducting mass Covid testing at Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai Ereima community hall on Tuesday.
Speaking on the sidelines, RK Anand informed that the mass testing exercise has been taken up with permission of State Health authority, Imphal West Deputy Commissioner and chief medical officers.
Noting that carelessness is the main reason for the sudden spike of Covid-19 positive and fatality rate in the state, he appealed to the people to be very careful.
The government too needs to inform the public about experts' opinion on the preventive measures every day and should take up more restrictive measures so as to contain the pandemic, Rk Anand opined.
He also visited the completed structure of Urban Health Centre (UHC) located at Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai, which he started constructing while he was an MLA.
During the inspection, he pointed out that Covid vaccination for the constituency is being done at CHC, Mekola.
However, many people of the AC are facing inconveniences in visiting the health centre.
Urging the government to set up another vaccination centre at the UHC, Rk Anand also stressed the need for increasing the number of vaccinations per day.
Contending that Naoriya Pa-khanglakpa AC is more like a constituency without elected representative, he lamented that people of the AC are yet to get NFSA rice for the last five months and urged the government to provide NFSA rice to the beneficiaries during this trying time of Covid-19 pandemic and to ensure that PMGKY rice, which will be given to public free of cost for May and June, is made available to the people.
