AMGSU restricts blocking roads for Holi fund drive

All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union (AMGSU) has imposed strict restriction on the involvement of Gorkha people in fund raising activities by blocking roads with and without ropes during Holi (Yaoshang) festival.
In a release, AMGSU president LB Adhikari stated that the Union is totally against any form of causing disturbance to the commuters as there is no such custom among Gorkha community to collect money on highways or inter village roads to collect fund during Yaoshang festival as well as to avoid road accidents.
AMGSU urged all its units, village level local clubs, women societies and any other local level developmental societies to take strong precautionary measures to prevent such practices within their respective unit's or village jurisdiction.
It also appealed to transporters and passengers not to donate money to Gorkha brothers and sisters during Yaoshang along the roads and called upon parents and guardians concerned not to encourage their children in such activities during the festival.

Strong action will be taken against the involved Gorkha youths by the Union.
