Thadou Inpi belittles KIM's claim

Imphal, March 13 2023: Reacting against the press statement issued by Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) wherein the name of 'Thadou' was mentioned in connection with the protest rally taken out on March 10, Thadou Inpi has clarified that it has nothing to do with the protest rally as it was neither consulted with nor had any knowledge of the matter and that Kuki Inpi has no moral or legal authority to speak for and on behalf of Thadou community.

In a statement, Thadou Inpi-general headquarters secretary general Jame Haokip maintained that Thadou Inpi is an apex body of the Thadou tribe and that Thadou Inpi and Thadou tribe are not part of the Kuki Inpi as per Thadou Conclave Declaration 2015.Informing that Thadou Inpi was not consulted with regarding the March 10 rally, the release stated that some Thadou individuals taking part in the said rally was an individual matter and not representative of Thadou Inpi or Thadou tribal community.

"Kuki Inpi should know its limit and stop interfering in the affairs of Thadou community.

They must not make any statement on behalf of Thadous but exercise due diligence and mutual respect" .

While reminding Kuki Inpi that Thadou Inpi is the apex body of Thadou tribe which has been duly recognised by the government of India as a scheduled tribe of Manipur since 1965, the year when the recognition of all the indig enous tribes of Manipur was completed, the release said that Kuki Inpi is the apex body of 'Any Kuki tribe' that was falsely created and added to the list of scheduled tribes of Manipur only in 2002 .
