MLA Kayisii exhorts youth to promote peace

Taphou Area Youth and Students' Organization (TAYSO) on Friday celebrated its Silver Jubilee at Taphou Naga village under the theme "Unity in Diversity" with the inaugural function held with Tadubi MLA N Kayisii as chief guest.
In his welcome address, celebration committee convenor Caleb L paid his highest respect to the founding members of the body on TAYSO reaching the milestone 25 years of its existence.
All along the journey of TAYSO, understanding, cooperation and solidarity among the members have stood the test of times and are the core values of the organisation, he said.
While expressing hope that TAYSO will fare better even in future, he recounted that 25 years back, the founding members felt the need to unite the youth and student communities of Taphou area with a common vision to march forward for progress and priority.
The convenor also acknowledged the commitment and contributions of the past leaders while noting that TAYSO strengthens the fraternal bonding between different communities and promotes peace and development in the area.
Chief guest MLA N Kayisii expressed amazement at how 18 villages of different tribes of Taphou area could come together and dwell in unity.
The MLA said that he heard of TAYSO in 2017 and was glad to learn that the organisation has been moving forward progressively.
He encouraged youths and students to be self-disciplined, trustworthy and to love one another and promote peace.
The chief guest also praised the Taphou area for absence of any disputes between dwellers which, he said, people from other places should learn from for peaceful co-existence and to make the district a peaceful one in future.
Theme song entitled "Unity in Diversity", composed by P Karaiba, was sung by representatives of different tribes of the area.
Translated into Maram, Kuki, Liangmai, Mao, Poumai, Thangal, Rongmei and Gorkhali, the song reads "Praise God for bringing the 18 villages together, irrespective of caste and creed, people of the area celebrate Jubilee with songs and dances" .
Flag of the silver jubilee was hoisted by Robert T.Maram, the first founding president of TAYSO.
Special songs, choreography and cultural dances from different villages of the area marked the celebration.
The evening session of the jubilee would follow with "Voice Hunt" .
TAYSO is known for its unique composition of different communities under one single organisation in promoting peace, unity and love.
