MLA Haopu lays foundation for many projects

MLA of Singngat (Singhat) AC GS Haopu on Friday toured the Guite Road area which links Manipur with Mizoram through Churachandpur district.
At Suangdoh village, the MLA also laid the foundation stones for construction of a water supply scheme under the Jal Jeevan Mission through the PHED and a waiting shed along the Guite Road at Mualzin village junction under the Border Area Development Programme (BADP) .
After the event, GS Haopu distributed hand sanitizers and masks for use by the people of Suangdoh area.
During his speech, he confided that over Rs 3.80 crore under BADP has been sanctioned and so the areas have started seeing light of development under the Chief Minister N Biren Singh-led government.
The MLA also talked about the power supply and health service, saying that provision of electricity is given top priority and for this purpose 33/11kv sub-station is being planned.
He added that the areas have six PHCs through which efficient healthcare services are being provided to the people.
He then appealed to all to unite and fight against the Covid-19 while urging the villagers not to resort to poppy cultivation.
At the same time, the MLA advised the village chiefs present on the occasion not to provide land for cultivation of such illicit plants.
GS Haopu later inaugurated the hostel building constructed under BADP for boys and girls at Suangdoh village and multi-facility centre.
Later, he visited Lungthul (T), Lungthul (L) and Lungthul (D) where he distributed essential items including hand sanitizers and face masks along with Rs 5000 in cash.
At Lungthul (L) which has been designated as the model village, MLA Haopu inaugurated water supply scheme taken up under the BADP and other projects.
From there he proceeded to New Kangkap (Tuima) where he inaugurated a suspension bridge and water reservoir for the village.
On his return journey, Haopu visited Chiangpi, Maukot and other villages during which he donated Rs 5000 each along with hand sanitizers, face masks and others to the village authorities.
The MLA was accompanied by ex-MDC Suanchinpau Guite, Suangdoh SDO Lalthanjam, MCS, Singngat SDO James Hangsing and other officials.
During the tour, GS Haopu also took stock of the situation of various village water supply, medical and infrastructural needs of the villagers while instructing the chiefs of the area not to cultivate poppy plants.
He promised the villagers that the government is there for them and that they should not take recourse to any illegal practices which may jeopardize their future.
