SDOAM golden jubilee concludes

Senapati District Olympic Association Manipur (SDOAM)'sgolden jubilee cum Olympic games under the theme "Rise and shine" held at Katomei Senapati and hosted by Katalui concluded on Monday with works and YAS minister Govindas Konthoujam attending the valedictory function as chief guest.
Minister Govindas, in, his address, said that the players must play with discipline and with their utmost skill bring laurel for the state and country.
Reminding that Manipur is often termed as power house of sports in the country, he said that the state is blessed with a sport university which is the only one of its kind in the country.
He noted that 50 players in I-league are from Manipur and further urged to follow their footsteps.
The minister assured of setting up volleyball and basketball courts in Senapati district, renovating mini stadium for badminton and table tennis and to blacktop the road from Senapati town to Katomei village.
He appealed to the people to join hands and support any development activities taken up by the government.
The programme was also attended by MLA Lourembam Rameshwor, St Xavier's College, Senapati principal Dr Nepuni William, COC convenor MS Jerome, co-convenor Dominic Azuna Th and SDOAM president Joram Koveo among others.
In the football final match, Maram defeated Zeliangrong by 2-1, while Poumai tribe topped the medal tally with 29 medals including 13 gold, 9 silver, 7 bronze medals.
Maram tribe secured 5 gold, 6 silver and 14 bronze medals as Mao tribe bagged 9 gold, 10 silver, 5 bronze medals, Zeliangrong 1 gold, 3 silver, 1 bronze medal and Thangal one bronze medal.
