8 wild boars, deer and antelope found dead in Kamjong area

At least ten wild animals have been estimated to have claimed by an unknown epidemic in Kamjong area of Ukhrul district.
Although the death of wild animals was reported since the last part of December, the outbreak of epidemic is suspected recently when the carcasses of seven wild boars were discovered in Maklang area near Maklang River, Headman of Ningthi village, NS Shimray said.
So far, the death of eight wild boars one each of deer and antelope has been reported.
Ascertaining the spotting of wild animals' carcasses, Pastor Felix of Kamjong Church of Christ said that the dead bodies of the wild animals were spotted by wood cutter and hunters of the area.
Wild animals like Boars, deers and antelopes are found at various areas such as Sampui, Hangkaw, Langli and Maka of Kamjong Block.
A villager from Khayang, Vaomi told media persons wild boars in the area have developed unhealthy skins since the past 3-4 years and the population of the wild animals decreased.
Meanwhile the rights activist H hungyo expressed his deep concern about the mysterious outbreak of epidemic threatening the life of wild animals.
He further appeals the concerned authority to intervene for any remedial measure to ensure the animal safety.
