Loktak Lake and Pumlen Pat have been included among 100 lakes of the country which are to be restored and rejuvenated (after the formation of an action plan within 100 days) under the Ministry of Environment and Forest.
According to an official source, the Loktak Development Authority will begin compiling management action plants for the restoration and rejuvenation of Loktak and Pumlen, under funding of the Central Government.
The source informed that the action plans will be submitted to the Ministry before October 15 and added that Panchayat and community bodies will also be included in the restoration and rejuvenation works.
The source continued that a workshop concerning the project was held at New Delhi today and LDA Project Director L Bhagaton participated in the meeting for Manipur.
