CWAF urges CM for proper functioning of MSKA

Cultural Workers and Activists Forum (CWAF) Manipur has appealed to chief minister N Biren, who is also in-charge of Culture, for early completion of the long awaited office cum auditorium of the Manipur State Kala Akademi (MSKA) at Cultural Complex, Palace Compound.
A press release issued by CWAF general secretary Rajkumar Sanatomba Singh stated that the office cum auditorium of the Akademi has not been functional for the last many years creating many problems in the activities of the Akademi as well as the artiste community of the state.
The Akademi is also running for the last many years without a regular secretary, the interview for the appointment of which was held on July 15 this year but still the result has not been declared yet, it said.
The Forum also appealed to authority concerned to declare the interview result and appoint a regular secretary for smooth functioning of the Akademi.
It also said that Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA) which is an important national academy under Sangeet Natak Akademi is also running without a full-time director for a long period of time.
CWAF urged the Governor and the chief minister to do the needful for early functioning of MSKA office cum auditorium, appoint a full-time secretary of MSKA and director of JNMDA in the larger interest of the artiste community.
The Government should also support in maintaining the existing halls and auditoriums run by the leading cultural organisations in the state, it further maintained.
