DCC political conference held

Ukhrul, November 24 2011:
A one-day political conference was on Thursday organised by Congress ticket aspirant A.S.Shimreiyo, for the 44 Ukhrul assembly constituency, at Ukhrul Town Hall on Thursday.
The one-day political conference was today convened under the aegis of the District Congress Committee.
The meet was attended by about 1000 party members from the three Block Congress Committee including Phungyar, Chingai and Ukhrul.
In his address during the conference, intending Congress candidate Shimreiyo appealed to the audience and voters in Ukhrul constituency to extend support in the forthcoming Assembly elections scheduled in February next year.
He is incumbent president of the District Congress Committee of Ukhrul district.
Upendra Mishra, Lok Sabha returning officer of Congress, also attended and spoke during the political conference.
He addressed the audience on the need to strengthen the party and called upon the youths to enroll in the National Student's Union of India (NSUI) .
In the next few days, official sources said, Mishra will be touring and meeting Block Congress Committee members of the district.
He is also reportedly mobilizing the district youths for enrolment in NSUI.
For the 44 Ukhrul assembly constituency, there are mainly three Congress ticket aspirants including former minister A.S.Arthur, Shimreiyo and sitting MLA Danny Shaiza, who had recently made public of his intention to seek re-election on Congress ticket.
