Bodies condemn 'murder' of Abdullah

Thoubal, May 23 2022: Several organisations have condemned the 'murder' of Korimayum Md Abdullah (23), son of Korimayum Md Abdul Barik of Yairipok Changamdabi Makha Leikai, whose body was found in a river at Arong Nongmaikhong area on Sunday after he went missing on May 16 and demanded swift justice for the victim.

Addressing a joint press meeting organised by UYDA Keibung Wangma and KYDC Keibung Makha Leikai at UYDA office on Monday, UYDA Keibung Wangma Mathak secretary Wahidur Rahaman Phundreimayum urged the government to investigate the case properly and punish the culprits as per the law.

He also extended support to the clubs and people of Keibung in ensuring justice to Abdullah as well as appealed to the CSOs of the state to help in finding truth about the case.

Meanwhile, in a release, AMMDC HQ, Lilong Usoipokpi demanded appropriate legal action against the culprits involved in the murder so that such incidents do not occur again.

The state is increasingly seeing cases of crime against women as well as incidents of crime involving women, hence, the government and authority concerned are appealed to closely monitor the situation and ensure that the public are protected from such crimes, it added.

AMMDC considers such crimes as barbaric act and requests chief minister N Biren to take personal initiative so as to ensure the investigation is conducted in transparent manner.

It has full faith that SP Imphal East, SP Thoubal and investigating officer concerned along with forensic expert will take up the matter knowing the mood of the public, AMMDC maintained and also extended its support to the JAC formed in connection with the case.

All Manipur Muslim Development Committee (AMMDC) HQ, Social and Educational Welfare Association Manipur, Social and Educational Welfare Organisation Manipur, Unique Youth Development Association (UYDA) Keibung Wangma and Keibung Youth Development Club (KYDC) Keibung Makha Leikai also strongly condemned the death of Abdulla.
