Education of riot-hit kids begins Monday

Riot-affected chil-dren taking shelter at Ideal Girls' College, Akampat will begin school education at Eastern Ideal High School and Lower Primary School, Kshetri Keikai from Monday.
Around 700 displaced victims are taking refuge in relief camp set up at ide-al Girls College under the sponsorship of agriculture minister and Thongju MLA Thongam Biswajit.
According to a Thongju Kendra Relief Committee member, out of the 700 ri-ot-victims, 50 had fled from Churachandpur while the remaining left Moreh.
The member informed that there are around 200 children below 16 years in the camp and initiatives for trauma counselling for them have been taking up along with opening of OPD in the camp.
He further stated that a pregnant woman who briefly stayed in the camp delivered a baby at JNIMS hospital after minister Biswajit contacted JNIMS director.
A 'Swasti Pooja' of the new born was held at the camp on Saturday and the baby has been named Lalchenthoibi' .
Senior Group vows safeguard of Manipur IMPHAL: While taking the pres-ent situation in Manipur very seriously, Senior Group for Thokchom Satyabrata convened an emergency meet and ad-opted a two-point resolution.
According to a statement of the group, the emergency meet held at the residence of Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Th Satyabrata resolved that the group will not remain silent when territorial integrity of Manipur is threatened and take responsibility to safeguard territorial integrity.
The meet-ing also resolved that both India and Manipur governments must take immediate steps to bring back peace and normalcy in the state.
The members also observed two minutes' silence for all the people affected by the communal violence.
