AR conducts Go Green drive at Pallel

Taking forward the initiative of saving and regenerating the flora of Manipur launched by IGAR (South) on 8th June last, troops of 26 Sector Assam Rifles conducted Go Green Drive in Pallel.
The drive began with planting of saplings by Maj General Rajeev Chopra, IGAR (South) and Mrs.Rashmi Chopra, President Assam Rifles Wives Welfare Association at Pallel.
More than 150 School Children along with their parents planted over 1000 saplings of fruit and ornamental trees over a period of two days from 14 to 15 June.
On the occasion, a pledge was also taken by all members of Assam Rifles fraternity to plant more trees towards a greener and environment friendly Manipur.
Speaking on the occasion, Maj Gen Rajeev Chopra said that it is a matter of concern that the forest cover in Manipur is depleting rapidly and regeneration has not yet reached a satisfactory level.
He added that the plantation drive is a small but an important measure towards a greenery and environment friendly Manipur.

Commander 26 Sector Assam Rifles explained that endeavour will be on creating awareness amongst troops and local population, for nurturing the planted trees for a greener and healthier future.
