Many mourn demise of filmmaker Homen D'Wai

Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) expressed its heartfelt condolences over the untimely demise of filmmaker Homen D'Wai, who succumbed to Covid-19 on July 10.Sharing the grief of the bereaved family, MSFDS secretary Sunzu Bachaspatimayum termed the demise of Homen as big loss for Manipuri cinema.
As a mark of respect and homage to the departed soul, candles were lit at MSFDS complex by the film community, the secretary said in the release.
It further stated that Homen, who created super-hit film "Yaiskul Pakhang Angaoba" among other films, is the latest victim in the long list of film personalities who have fallen to Covid-19.Homen had been nursing kidney ailments for a while, needing dialysis three times a month.
On Saturday night he lost consciousness and died at the hospital where he used to have dialysis.
At the time of his death, he was Covid positive, the secretary informed and added that Homen (51), who was a resident of Sagolband Thangjam Leirak, is survived by his wife and a nine-year-old daughter.
Homen also directed several super-hits like 'Ei Actor Natte' which bagged the Best Popular Film award at the 13th Manipur State Film Awards, "Mittrang Keithel, "Raja", Yaiskul Pakhang Angaoba, (2012), "Dr Yaima", "VDF Thasana" and Eidi Thamoi Pikhre" among others.
Film Forum Manipur also mourned the sudden demise of Homen D'Wai and singer Ningthoujam Nabachandra, and prayed for the departed souls to rest in peace.
Kangla Films, Manipur and All Manipur Film Makers & Producers' Association have also condoled the demise of Homen D'Wai.
The demise of Homen will create a huge void in Manipuri cinema, the two bodies lamented, while sharing pain and grief of the bereaved family.
