No confrontation with rivals in last polls: Khemchand

Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker, and MLA of Singjamei assembly constituency Y Khemchand said that he had no confrontation with any of his rivals in the last assembly elections.
While inaugurating the newly renovated common ground of Singjamei Waikhom Leikai Volunteers' Society for Development oil Sunday, Khemchand said that he contested elections for two terms from Singjamei assembly constituency against ex-MLA I Hemochandra and he never had any violent confrontation with his political rival.
Workers from both sides also greet each other warmly and they never got involved in any violent incidents.
However, the 'new kid' is always trying to provoke his rivals.
It is democracy and anybody can fight the election.
However, he does not want to go down to his level and indulge in war of words on social media, Khemchand said and appealed to the people of the area not to get involved in any such violent incidents but remain silent and support the candidate they want.
He also assured of further development initiatives for his constituency.
Former IMC mayor L Lokeshwari called upon the people of the constituency to support Khemchand and help in making Singjamei a model constituency.
YWSFD president Hijam Ibomcha presided over the function.
The newly renovated ground has an area of 117 x 90 feet, and it has an elevation of 2.5 feet from the road surface.
The ground has also been illuminated with installation of 10 halogen bulbs.
