Govt alone not responsible for development: Hi Hemo

Imphal, September 08 2021: Panthoibi Housing Finance Company Limited chairman and managing director Thokchom Hemo has stated that there will be no development in the state if what we all do is wait for the government to act.

Speaking during the 16th Foundation Day celebration of the Company held at Manipur Press Club here on Tuesday, Hemo informed that the Company has become the first Licensed Holder Public Limited Housing finance Company in the entire northeastern region to be recognised as financial institution under the Securitisation and Reconstruction of Finance Asset and Enforcement of Security Interest (SARFAESI) Act 2002 of the Ministry of Finance, Department of Financial Services, and regulated by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

In addition, the Company has helped avail many housing loans, not to mention of the financial support given to the people of the state till date, he added.

Contending that we, the people, should work hard in all aspects instead of just waiting for the government to take the initiative, the chairman said that the state will have a good and prosperous future ahead if we are able to learn and apply the lessons learned from past experiences.

Hemo also stressed on the need for assessing the issues plaguing the state in a detailed manner, while emphasising the need of a strong body which could provide full support to the state government.

However, owing to incomplete utilisation of the various resources available in the state, Manipur is now dependent on others for its survival in matters of food, education, etc, which is embarrassing, he remarked.

Hemo then contended that ego-centrism will only bring losses and as such, urged all concerned to abandon egocentric and discriminatory behaviour and learn to respect one another.
