Imphal, May 29 2021:
Different clubs and Meira Paibi organisations of Sekmai assembly constituency on Saturday appealed to the government to shift the Community Home Isolation Centre (CHIC) of Sekmai assembly constituency from Nilapadma Higher Secondary School, Awang Sekmai to a central location.
In a joint statement, Koutruk Youth Development Club, Phumlou Apunba Nupi Lup, Senjam Chirang Youth Club, Tera Urak Pioneers' Club, Loitang Khunou United Youth Club, Mobung Khunou Youth Club, Ibudhou Awang Koubru Ashuppa Development Committee and Lairenkabi and Social Youth Organisation Sanjenbam pointed out that Awang Sekmai is located at the outer periphery of Sekmai AC and setting up CHIC or the constituency there is not suitable logistically.
It would be difficult for people of Tera Urak, Sanjenbam, Haorang Khunou and several other villagges to reach there during the pandemic.
They have no objection if the CHIC is only for Awang Sekmai, the statement said while urging the government to set up CHIC for the whole AC at Sardar Patel High School located at Khurkhul considering its central location.
Meanwhile, Sekmai MLA H Dingo has appealed to the local clubs and Meira Paibi organisations to submit recommendations on suitable location for setting up CHICs in different areas of the constituency.
He assured of his assistance in setting up and management of the CHICs.
