The 44-Yaithibi Loukon Land Owners' Association, Sora has urged the central government to construct the proposed sports university at the area lying between YK College Wangjing and Khongjom War Memorial complex, instead of acquiring the lands belonging to the minority people at 44-Yairithibi Loukon.

The president of the Association said that the leaders assured the team which also include Naga and Muslim representatives that the proposed sports university would not be constructed at the controversial Yaithibi Loukon area.
The union leaders told them that the chief minister, governor and chief secretary of Manipur would be conveyed the same through telephone.
The Association has also submitted a memorandum to the prime minister of India.
On November 20 last, Joint Secretary of YAS Dr.GSG Ayyangar called a meeting at CGO Complex in New Delhi where Manipur chief secretary, Director Settlement and Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal were present.
The Joint Secretary instructed them to consider another convenient area for construction of the University, added the statement.
The Association, in its release, also reiterated the state government to withdraw its decision to acquire lands from 44-Yaithibi Loukon for construction of the Sports University, failing which the Association is ready to resort to severe forms of democratic agitations.
Meanwhile, Antyodaya Cell of BJP Manipur Pradesh has asked the state government why it does not accept the proposal for construction of the sports university at Haraothel area in Imphal west district.
In a press release, the Cell said that the people of the area had already offered their land to the government for the proposed university.
However, the government is still sticking to its idea of doing the same in the controversial Yaithibi Loukon.
