VC of MUC feted

Rajya Sabha MP, Leishemba Sanajaoba has stated that the process for enlisting Manipuri as the 7th classical language of India has reached halfway.
He announced this in the felicitation ceremony of the new VC of Manipur University of Culture, P Gunindro held at Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai.
Speaking as the chief guest of the function, the titular king said that he raised the necessity of recognising Manipuri as a classical language of the country in his very first session at the Rajya Sabha.
He also said that he was motivated by the VC to raise the issue.
The MP also stated Gunindro is fit for the post that was given to him (Vice-Chancellor of MUC) recently.
Appointing him as the VC of MUC is the first step to find a solution for the admission issue at the university, he added.
VC of MUC Gunindro, stated that opening a proper institute of culture in the State is imperative to preserve the rich art and culture of Manipur.
The VC also said that the rate of exploring the art and culture of Manipur is quite low.
Manipur Humanitarian Foundation advisor RK Shivchandra, Nat Sankirtan guru Leimapokpam Lakpati, Padmashree Awardee Wareppa Naba, JNMDA, Imphal Director in-charge Bilash Pukhrambam and MFDS former secretary Hamom Naba also attended the programme.
