Imphal, August 22 2022:
Eramdam E-Pao Facebook Page collected Rs 12.03 lakh from a donation drive launched for a 2-year-old kid from Bashikhong Panthoibi Keithel, who is suffering from a rare disease called Familial Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis and handed over the amount to the patient's family on Monday.
As bone marrow transplant is the only cure from the rare and often fatal dis-ease, Albert Maimom, son of Maimom Suraj and Nirupama, requires a minimum of Rs 38 lakh for the treatment.
There is a fund drive going on in Ketto, a crowd-funding site.
Eramdam E-Pao carried out its own donation drive through its FB page for the patient when the admins came across the post and collected Rs 12,03,969 during the 10-day long donation drive.
Interacting with the media, Eramdam E-Pao team member Arun Piano said that they carried out the donation drive on seeing the condition of the two-year-old kid and the distressful situation his family has been enduring.
While thanking the donors for their contribution, he appealed to the people of the state to help the family in whatever capacity they could.
It is informed that the parents came to know about their son's condition after they went to a multispecialty hospital in Bengaluru as doctors in Imphal could neither ascertain his condition nor find the right treatment.
The kid's body is producing an excessive amount of activated immune cells, which in turn, is causing severe damage to his vital organs.
The family had already sold their only homestead land to foot bill for the therapy session and is now seeking assistance from the public to save their son.
