Imphal, May 16 2021:
A joint meeting of representatives of Churachandpur district administration, NHIDCL and chiefs' association held on Sunday at New Lamka, Churachandpur in the presence of Tribal Affairs and Hills (TA&H) minister Vungzagin Valte has reached an agreement for resumption of a road construction project and payment of land compensation to the affected parties.
Among others, issues discussed at the joint meeting included construction of the NH-102B, which was halted briefly over disagreement on payment of land compensation.
Along with consensus on resumption of the construction works and release of the pending compensation amount for felling of trees and dismantling of structures within May 22, 2021, those present also agreed to resurvey and recommend estimates for the affected structures and trees by the district administration to the NHIDCL to facilitate due process for payment of compensation under the project package 3(A), (B) & (C) .
Consequently, the chiefs' association decided to withdraw their agitation with immediate effect.
The NHIDCL also agreed to resurvey expansion of the Tedim road from Tuibong bridge to Lanva bridge and submit relevant report to the government for final decision.
The NH-102B connecting Churachandpur town with neighbouring Mizoram was planned for expansion to a double lane under 6 packages with the NHIDCL as the work agency.
Addressing the media after the meeting, minister Vungzagin Valte asserted that the government under the able leadership of chief minister N Biren is capable of handling the present situation arising out of the Covid-19 pandemic in the state.
He also urged the people not to panic but follow the prescribed SOP to check further spread of the contagion in the district.
With regard to availability of medical oxygen in the district, the minister said that once the basic under-construction structures have been completed the machine for production of liquid oxygen will be installed and production started within 60 days.
"Orders have been placed for procurement of machines and equipment as well as vehicles for 6 oxygen plants and ambulances equipped with life-saving kits for six hill districts to fight Covid pandemic", the minister said.
After completion, each of the oxygen plants will produce 200 cylinders of liquid oxygen per day.
These plants will ensure a sustained supply of oxygen for all oxygenated and ICU beds, he added.
