Discussion on black laws

Imphal, February 15 2015:
Coordination of Democratic Rights Organization (CDRO) and Committee on Human Rights (COHR) jointly organized a one-day discussion programme on "Black Laws in India" at the Centenary Hall of Manipur University, Canchipur here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, President of COHR Phunindro Konsam said that several black laws such as the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), 1958; Indian Police Act, 1864; Seditious Act, 1911; Punjab Security Act, 1953; Preventive Detention Act, 1818; and Indian Penal Code, 1860 are being imposed upon the people of Manipur by the Indian Government.
The colonial acts of the British are still used by the Indian authorities resulting to gross violation of human rights in the State, Phunindro noted.
