AR commemorates Quit India Movement

As an effort to promote patriotism, Battalions under command9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) commemorated 76th Anniversary of Quit India Movement.
The celebrations started with pledge taking ceremonies at the Headquarters and the Company Operating Bases of Keithelmanbi Battalion and Mantripukhri Battalion.
Events including essay competition, quiz competition and group discussions were organised at various Company Operating Bases for the students of Sun Shine Academy, Kasturba Gandhi Girls School, Islamic English School, Criscent English School, Standard Robarth School Canchipur, Assam Rifles Public School and Mantripukhri ARPS.
Lectures and movie on "Quit India Movement", were delivered and showcased for troops, students and faculties of the schools.
A total of 500 troops, 700 students and 50 teaching staff participated in the various events.
The main aim of these events were to instill feelings of patriotism to the students.
The day witnessed enthusiastic participation by the students of various age.
groups and provided an opportunity to generate the sense of patriotism amongst the children.
The endeavour of the Assam rifles in promoting peace and harmony in the region was appreciated by all, said a statement of IGAR (South) today.
