Imphal, January 11 2022:
Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts and Culture Society (KIMACS) chairman Wahengbam Brojen has said that a common examination for class X students who opted Thang-Ta as a subject will be conducted to bring out quality students.
Addressing media persons in this regard at KIMACS office, Palace Compound here on Tuesday, Brojen informed that the application form for the common examination will be issued from January 20 and the examination will be conducted at 50 different centres on February 13 for theory and on February 20 for practical.
The examination will be held as per syllabus and system of the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM).
According to Brojen, students who applied for the examination will be provided enough study materials as the examination is being conducted to bring out more qualified students in the BSEM examination.
He then urged schools which provide opportunity to opt Thanga-Ta as a subject to allow their students to appear the common examination.
He further said that more than 100 schools of the state are facilitating students to opt Thang-Ta as a subject after it was introduced to class IX students in 2014 and became a BSEM syllabus subject in 2016.However, it is questionable whether schools offering Thang-Ta as a subject are able to produce quality students and COVID-19 pandemic for nearly two years has also severely hampered conduct of practical classes.
In view of this, the common examination is being conducted to improve quality of students opting the subject, Brojen added.
