As such, the Government must try to prevent these forms of crime by taking it very seriously.
Apart from the Government, both male and female groups in the society must also come out together and stand against the menace.
There is an apparent need for male and female groups in the society to respect each other and maintain their dignity to curb such crimes, she added.
Sakhi opined that it is high time for all to introspect on the degrading status of women in the State and observed that the real sense of peace would be witnessed in the society only when men and women are uplifted equally.
Lauding NIMPAL for working with dedication and sincerity for the cause of the Manipuri society since its inception, she asked the organisation to further take part in the core issues confronting the society.
Addressing keynote address at the function, NIMPAL secretary general G Shanti Leima conveyed that the organisation was founded on May 10, 2015 with the objective of creating a common platform where issues pertaining to women could be resolved.
She said that the organisation lays emphasis on protecting the rights of women and uplifting their economic and social condition for betterment of the society.
Maintaining that the society is becoming more perilous as the number of people indulging in immoral activities, commission of crimes and drug abuse is increasing to an alarming rate, she claimed that the organisation has been continuously holding awareness programmes in different parts of Imphal West district since the past few years.
The organisation is committed to curbing the rampant crimes against women in the State, she added.
