House passes seven Demands for Grants

The 12th Manipur State Legislative Assembly on Thursday unanimously passed seven Demands for Grants amounting to R*s 2743,55,92,000 .
The Demand for Grants included Agriculture (Rs 380,47,21,000); Administration of Justice (Rs 104,75,07,000); Planning (Rs 1393,92,08,000); Minor Irrigation (Rs 343,67,00,000); Sericulture (Rs 32,89,00,000); Tourism (Rs 292,70,78,000); and Information Technology (Rs 195,14,78,000) .
Policy Cut Motions were raised by Congress MLAs K Ranjit, K Meghachandra and Th Lokeshwar on four Demands for Agriculture, Minor Irrigation, Sericulture and Tourism while MLAs Ram Muivah (Ukhrul), Mayanglambam Rameshwar (Kakching) and Sapam Nishikant (Keishamthong) gave their observations during the policy cut motions.
Giving clarification on Motion raised on Tourism, chief minister N Biren said that Manipur has lot of tourism potential.
But development of road and improvement of law and order is very important in tourism sector.
Ten sites having natural scenic beauty have been identified for setting up tourism spots near national highways.
App containing information and guidelines about tourism of Manipur will be made available within 20 days, he added.
Clarifying on Minor Irrigation Department, the CM mentioned that more than 500 ground water drilling pumps have been set up to give irrigation.
He further stated that 200 RLI schemes have been set up of which about 150 schemes are in working condition.
One the other hand with reference to Agriculture department, minister Th Biswajit said 22,000 metric tonnes of fertilisers have been sanctioned as quota for the state of Manipur of which 11,634.84 MTs have been already procured.
There are 1,95,000 hectares of total agricultural land, out of which 9,500 hectares are under the supervision of MOMA, he added.
