Imphal, June 02 2021:
Following the commencement of mass testing programme in Imphal West district to curb the spread of Covid-19, the number of positive cases in Patsoi AC has increased significantly, which in turn has overwhelmed the intake capacity of the present Community Isolation centres in the constituency.
As such, additional centres have been opened to house the fresh patients.
Patsoi MLA AK Mirabai on Wednesday inaugurated the second Community Home Isolation Centre (CHIC) of the constituency at St Joseph School, Tera Lukram Leirak, after the first 70-bedded CHIC at State Academy of Training (SAT), Takyelpat ran out of space.
Speaking in this regard, AK Mirabai informed that the mass testing programmes led to spike in the number of positive cases in Imphal West district and many people are currently staying at the CHICs due to inconveniences in isolating at their homes.
However, as the CHIC at Takyelpat is unable to house all of the new positive cases due to lack of space, a joint meeting of local clubs, pradhans of GPs and ZPs members was convened and a unanimous resolution was adopted to open additional 50-bedded CHICs in five areas of the constituency.
The DC Imphal West had also issued an order in this regard and the five selected facilities include St Joseph School, Sangaiprou; Don Bosco School, Takyel Khong- bal; Kindergarden School, Takyel Kolom Leikai; HRD Academy, Ghari and MECI Higher Secondary School, Changangei, she conveyed.
Stating that all necessary measures are being made, the MLA said that she has already engaged two nurses, two multi tasking staff and doctors for the centres, without the help from the government.
The nurses are regularly monitoring the patients as per the instructions of the doctors, including providing them with the requisite medicines.
In addition, a 24-hour transportation service for picking up and dropping off the patients and emergency services are being provided, she added.
"The patients at the isolation centres are also being provided with two meals a day apart from breakfast and afternoon snack.
If anyone particularly those isolating in their homes are experiencing poor health, they can consult the doctors, namely Dr P Chaoba, Sangaiprou (9436022521); Dr P Arun, Taobungkhok (9856529441); Dr L Basanta Singh, Takyel Kolom Leikai (9856084167); Dr L Sundrajit Singh, Patsoi Part-I (7005785416) and Dr K Roshila Devi, Taobungkhok (9503802336)", she informed.
Assuring that she will continue to fulfill her duties as the representative of the constituency, Mirabai urged all concerned not to feel defeated after testing positive.
She further urged all concerned to participate in the mass testing programme so as to get treatment as soon as possible and help in curbing the spread of the virus.
She also appealed to the people to strictly follow the SOP issued by the government.
