Anti-rabies vaccination drive on at Kangpokpi

Concerned over reported death from dog bite at Motbung village recently, the office of Deputy Director, Veterinary Sub-Divisional, Kangpokpi has launched a mass anti-rabies mass vaccination programme in different areas under Sadar Hills to prevent further casualty.
Under the guidance of Director of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, the Deputy Director conducted a free anti-rabies vaccination programmes at Bazar Board, Kanglatongbi on 28 May in collaboration with the Gram Panchayat of Kanglatongbi, Bazar Board Committee Kanglatongbi and United Youth Club Kanglatongbi.
Over 250 dogs were vaccinated during the programme.
Today, similar vaccination programmes were conducted at Kangpokpi and Daili village in collaboration with the Town Committee and Village authority respectively where a large number of people turned up with their canine pets for vaccination.
Speaking to media persons on the sideline of the programme, Dy.
Director of Veterinary, Sub-Divisional Kangpokpi Dr.L.Daili Lawo expressed happiness over the public response and conveyed that during the course of the vaccination programme, they have come across some rare breed dogs commonly known as Local Mix Breed in Kangpokpi areas.
"It would be exceptionally good and valuable on the part of the concerned department to take up initiatives for upliftment of such rare breed", the officer noted.
