National team reviews status of JJM in state

Imphal, February 27 2023:
A team from National Jal Jeevan Mission (NJJM) visited Manipur from February 21 to 24 to assess progress of implementation of JJM in the field and to extend technical assistance to expedite the project with focus on prudent investment.
In a release, PHED Manipur informed that the team comprises NJJM DDWS under-secretary Vikas Srivastava, PHE team leader Rana Ramesh Singh, senior infrastructure specialist Manoj Gupta and national wash expert Dinesh Kumar Upadhya.
The team visited Imphal West and Chandel districts on February 22 and 23 respectively during which they checked implementation of water supply projects taken up under JJM and New Development Bank (NDB) in the held.
They also interacted with GP/VWSC members local community, Implementation Support Agency (ISA), Third Party Inspection Agency (TPIA), work agency and PHED officials on issues related to community participation, IEC activities, quality of construction, quality and quantity of water supplied to public which are main parameters for successful implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission, the release informed.
The team also called on deputy commissioners of Chandel and Imphal West and discussed on timely completion of the project apart from visiting district laboratory of Imphal West and Chandel PHE Divisions, and State Laboratory of PHED at Lamphel.
On the last day of the visit on February 24, the team debriefed on the outcome of the site visit to secretary PHE, which was attended by PHED chief engineer and other officials, the release added.
