Imphal, December 25 2021:
A combined team of Manipur Democratic Alliance (MDA) and Shiv Sena led by MDA convenor M Tombi on Saturday afternoon visited Kh Rakesh, one of the injured in the Heirok incident and currently undergoing treatment at Raj Medicity, and extended monetary assistance.
Speaking on the sidelines of the visit, Tombi remarked that possession of a gun is currently considered a fashion in the state.
As such, he stressed the need for the state government to seriously screen and monitor licensed gun owners to prevent crimes and a repeat of incidents similar to that of Heirok AC.
Stating that it is unfortunate to see a student like Rakesh becoming a victim of gun violence, the MDA convenor urged the authorities to apprehend the culprit(s) and award befitting punishment.
He then cautioned that any delay in delivering justice would invite the wrath of the people, while remarking that the difference of opinions between candidates or their respective workers, which has now lead to the point of gun violence, should not have occurred in the first place.
"Such candidates do not deserve the votes of the people for it will only result in the demise of democracy," Tombi contended, while condemning the frequent poll-related violent incidents in Heirok AC .
