Imphal, October 23 2013:
United Minorities Liberation Army (UMLA), one of the militant outfits under the umbrella body of Kuki National Organisation (KNO) organized a gospel concert cum crusade at Hermon Camp Chehlep, Chandel district of Manipur on October 22 in aid of a church construction at Hermon Camp.
UMLA is an organization formed by varied communities coming together as one beyond the boundaries of language barrier.
The concert aimed at uniting all the communities by the language of music.
According to the UMLA, if the cadres of the camp believe in God and the crusade, then their wishes would be fulfilled.
Regarding the upcoming Chin-Kuki-Mizo Kut festival, the organization urged the Kut organizing committee to make it clear to the people of the origin of the festival.
The festival should be addressed as "Chavang Kut" instead of "Kut," UMLA suggested.
"The main objective of celebrating the festival should be to preserve and maintain the existing culture and traditions of the Chin-Kuki-Mizo groups.
The need comes to look back on how our forefathers celebrated the auspicious festival so that the real meaning of the festival can be attained by people.
The public should also be made known of how the Chavang Kut committee is decided every year.
It is not favourable for the committee to organize the State level Chavang Kut celebration every year at 1st M.R Ground in Imphal.
Instead, places where Chin-Kuki-Mizo groups reside should be made the venues in a rotational manner to avoid the celebration of the festival at district levels.
It further said that the Chavang Kut festival these days seem to be only devoted in contesting of Miss Kut instead of deriving the main reason out of it.
Evangelist G.Thangboi B.D was the speaker of the celebration.
Th.Hegin Haokip praised the Chief-in-Commandant of UMLA, Kopham Khaling, organizers, cadres, area chiefs and social leaders who participated successfully in the function representing as one before God," UMLA added.
