Imphal, July 22 2021:
Diammonium Phosphate (DAP), Single Super Phosphate (SSP) and Muriate of Potash (MOP) seized in a Thoubal district area on Wednesday were not related with agriculture department in any way and these fertilizers are not included in the items controlled by the government but urea is the only fertilizer controlled by the government, stated representative of fertilizer dealers of the state Th Surjit.
Th Surjit informed media persons that DAP, SSP and MOP fertilizers are transported by factories till Jiribam railway station while private dealers not only transport the same till Imphal in trucks but also bear freight charge for transportation from Jiribam to Imphal.
Apart from this, private dealers pay numerous taxes along the highway, he said, adding that government and fertilizer companies never pay freight charge or subsidy for transportation of DAP, SSP and MOP though Manipur government had been bearing the freight charge for transportation of government-controlled urea fertilizer from Jiribam to Imphal.
According to Surjit, private dealers could sell DAP, SSP and MOP at MRP rates if given subsidy to these fertilizers transported by private dealers just like urea.
