The Committee on Protection & Preservation of the Historical Rights of Koubru & Thangjing Hill Ranges (CP-PKT) organised a one-day discussion session on Ibudhou Thangjing Hill Range at Naransena Seva Club on Thursday with CPPKT convener Sapamcha Jadumani, Kabui Union president Dr Heera Kabui, KMKKL president Gaurav Moirangcha, Seva secretary Ningthoujam Jadumani and Cheirap Loishang Ibudhou Thangjing Phamnaiba Ingu Tongbram Ibopishak Singh as the presidium members.
After threadbare discussion on the points raised by various speakers, the session unanimously adopted vari ous resolutions.
It resolved to ask the government to clarify over KSO Henglep unit's claim that owner of Thangjing hill range is Loikhai village chief Thenmang Haokip.
Another point in the resolution asserted that KSO Henglep, chiefs and any club cannot impose restriction on entry of people in any part of Manipur.
The discussion also resolved that state government must look into renaming of Thangjing as Thangting thereby contradicting the rich Moirang Kangleirol history and dishonouring indigenous people of the land.
The discussion session also strongly condemned the press statements issued by Saikot MLA Paolienlal Haokip and KSO Henglep on May 14.Further, the gathering drew attention of the government so as to take up action against those particularly the Kuki people who paid refugee tax till 1968 for imposing restriction on entry of indigenous people in any part of Manipur.
The discussion session also strongly refuted KSO Henglep unit's 'misguided' remark and asked the KSO unit to clarify at the earliest.
