Lone UBI bank shut in Tamenglong due to blackout

Tamenglong district has once again revealed its backwardness by total blackout for nearly a month while the neglected district has drawn the attention of the people's representatives, bureaucrats and Government officers to the problem.
Lives in Tamenglong have been reeling under untold hardships due to the total blackout for nearly a month.
After irregular supply of electricity for a week, the total blackout started from July 20 last which has forced to shut down the lone United Bank of India in the district on Monday.
"If the electricity problem is not solved, the bank will shut down until the electricity is supplied and that the power generator of the bank has already broken down after using for many days" said the manager Stevan Aimoil.
"The bank has lost in term of lakhs of rupees per day due to the closure.
We are not bother for that but feel sorry for those students and parents who need to use the bank for sending or receiving money," added the manager.
In the meantime, when this Hueiyen Lanpao correspondent went to enquire about the prolonged total blackout, one Assistant Manager of a distribution company, Diliamang Gangmei said that due to collapse of electric post at Longlup location No 46- 47 between Rengpang and Leimatak the department could not supply power through 33kv power lines for the district.
