Personal Contact Programme (PCP) for Diploma of Elementary Education (DElEd) course under National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) for Manipur, was formally opened by State Nodal Officer (NEIEd-NIOS)/Director of Education (s)/State Project Director, SSA,SMA, Manipur, Th Kirankumar at Ramlal Paul Higher Secondary School, Keishamthong, today.
According to an official source, the inauguration ceremony was attended by the Centre Coordinator of the school, resource persons, trainees and officials of NIOS/Department of Education (s).
Speaking at the event, the State Nodal Officer stressed on the importance and necessity of the course for both effective and efficient teaching-learning process at elementary school level for untrained in-service elementary teachers.
He also instructed the trainees and resource persons to attend the PCP (which will last till April 8) regularly.
It may be mentioned that the HRD Ministry, under the Right To Education (RTE) Act, 2009, is planning to provide proper training to a total of 14.5 lakh elementary teachers in the country (25,000 teachers of Government schools, Government aided schools and private schools in Manipur) .
As per the instruction of the Ministry, the training programme will be conducted till March 31, 2019 and those teachers who fail to get necessary training in the study centres before the said deadline will be terminated from service.
It may also be mentioned that a total of 258 study centres have been established in the State for the said purpose.
