Imphal, December 08 2018:
Election Commission of Indian Secretary Mohammad Umar would make an assessment of the preparations being done in the State for the Lok Sabha election which is due early next year.
After his arrival at Imphal on December 10, the ICI Secretary would inspect the ongoing electoral roll special summary revision apart from holding a video conference with Electoral Registration Officers, informed a source.
He would collect field reports about the poll preparations on December 11.Notably, electoral roll special summary revision is going on with January 1, 2019 as the qualifying date and the final electoral roll would be published on January 4 .
There would be 2861 polling stations in the State for the Lok Sabha election where EVMs and VVPAT would be used.
Notably, an extensive awareness programme about using EVMs and VVPAT is going on at all polling stations under the aegis of the Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur.
So far, around 90,000 voters have directly participated in the awareness programme and special draw of lots would be held for these participants on January 25, the National Voters' Day.
It is reported that the office of the Chief Electoral Officer has begun preparing a list of Government employees who would be assigned election duties.
